Bengali grammar was a dearth of resources and studies until the 20th century. The first modern work on Bengali was published in 1832 by Monier Monier-Williams, a then well-known orientalist in England. This study on Bengali was later translated into Bengali as Engiraz, which was translated into Hindi by Pandit Keshav of Bihar-Jaunpur State as Nigdhik Ani Shodhik. Privy to the publication of this text, Hirakmayji Daulatram "a Bengali feminist" wrote several plays. After the establishment of the provisional government in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh), the Bengali language was slowly re-popularized to a folk level as a means of communication between Bengali people in the rural areas. For the sake of literature, R.K.Mookerjee, a notable satirist and critic wrote numerous articles on Bengali grammar and literature. He and Abanindranath Tagore and other Bengali critics have continued to produce longer works on Bengali grammar and literature until today. d2c66b5586
