This is a video from E3 2011 in which a playable demo of Shadow of the Colossus is shown. The demo consists of the battle with the colossus, and the journey to and battle with the second colossus. This final colossus is much larger and stronger than the first, and Wander must be careful to avoid being overrun by the shadow creatures. Some of these are revealed to be weak points in the colossus' hide, and can be smashed open with the sword. The mission ends when Wander kills the colossus.
The demo consists of a lengthy opening sequence, which features the introduction of the game's characters and a brief explanation of the plot. It then begins with Wander waking up in a barren landscape; he then begins his journey to find the colossi. Eventually, the colossus that has been following him appears, and the fight begins. Wander tries to avoid the shadow creatures, and kills the colossus by slashing at its back, revealing sigils there. He then chases after the second colossus, which is revealed to be far larger than the first. The battle begins, and the colossus stomps on Wander and begins to crush him. Wander flees, but the colossus pursues him, and eventually catches up. It whips its tail to knock Wander over, and he manages to defeat it by slashing open a weak point in its head. Wander then encounters a bird, which flies him to a remote shrine where he will find a second colossus.
The second colossus is revealed to be even stronger than the first, and it attacks Wander using its tail. He eventually kills it by slashing open a weak point in its back, just as he did with the first colossus.
Development on Shadow of the Colossus for the PS3 started in 2005; however, the game's development team decided to delay the game's release until after the Xbox 360 and DS were available.[43] The delay was partly due to Sony's initial decision to withhold the game from the Xbox 360, and partly due to the team's desire to have the game available for the PlayStation Portable. The delay allowed the team to adjust the game to run smoothly on the new hardware, and the game was then ported to the PS3 when the PS3 debuted.
