I have looked in at purchase items and the list doesn't contain Logic Pro, so i am unable to re-download. Can you tell me where else I might be able to find the update? I may have moved or renamed the program and therefore I can't find it.
I'm hoping I can upgrade the OS and later get the 10.4 logic( but it may not run on my system ( 5,1/ 2010 mac pro), so where and how do I purchase and download LXP 10.3.2 if the system forces you to download LPX 10.4( which I hear is extremely buggy)? I also have to contend with third party 32-bit plugins so I will also be using 32 Lives by SoundRadix. I also have a 2010 mac mini that currently runs Sierra, and has LPX 10.1, so if I purchase and download LPX on it, it will be the 10.4 version and won't run on the 2010 mac correct? so I need advice.
So, this is to help anyone that has this problem. The most recent version of Logic is not compatible with my older OS, El Capitan. If you don't have the most recent, required operating system the App store won't let you buy/download Logic Pro. But there is a work around. You can go on another computer that has a newer operating system that is compatible. Sign on to the App store and buy the software... it may start downloading but you can cancel it. Then go back to your older computer, sign on to the App store and go to 'purchases'... and it will let you download the last compatible version. Why should one need to 'fake out' the App store to do this work around? I called Apple and spent 45 minutes on the phone and no one could verify or deny this work around works and no one could really help me avoid having to do this. Unfortunately I have a lot of older design software that will probably be obsolete if I upgrade. I can't afford to upgrade for every new OS because the risk of it not being compatible is too great and I need it for my work.
No. I am only listing a work around to get access to older versions of the software that become unavailable after an update. Logic Pro is at 10.4 now. But if you have an older operating system you can't even buy Logic Pro 10.4 without updating your operating system to at least Sierra. And you can't buy the older version either. The only way you can do it is by 'faking out the App store'. Log onto your account from different computer that DOES have a more recent operating system. Buy Logic Pro. It starts downloading... cancel it an log out. Go back to your computer. Log on to the App store. Go to 'purchases'. There it will allow you to download the last compatible version that will work with your current operating system. App store let me download Logic Pro 10.3.3, which is compatible with El Capitan.
With the release of 5.3.2, we have officially discontinued support for 32-bit plug-ins. With macOS Catalina requiring all applications to be 64-bit, and with the vast majority of our PC customers using 64-bit plug-ins, we decided it was the right time to end 32-bit support. Our most recent 32-bit installers are available to download below. 2b1af7f3a8
